FINAL PROJECT - Design Exploration
From my idea presentation, Mr.Vinod told me to do just the 3rd Idea because it's more make sense. And here are my attempt.

 |
Fig 1.3: 2nd attempt |
From my attempt, Mr.Vinod said I must work hard and improve more. But the H is interesting. So I try to improve from the H.

From the 3 styles above, Mr.Vinod told me to focus on no.2 (

I try to improve from the feedback given and send this to Mr.Vinod.

Then move on to the application. And I also try to do the numbers as suggestion.

FEEDBACK
Week 11
General Feedback: Need to know the purpose of what are we going to do to the typeface.
Specific Feedback: My idea is bad, but one of them can be used (the musical notes typeface) but need to ensure and develop variations form musical notes.
Week 12
General Feedback:
Specific Feedback: Mr.Vinod said that I'ms still on my first stage of the process, so need to work hard and fast. And I'm taking a hard decision but could work on it. Don't do the black dot in every letter. The last part of my work, the 'H' on is interesting, try to do L. Look up and learn about stem stroke to create the letter 'f'. And try to reach the quality of variation and standardisation. Make sure that joints need to be seamless.
Week 13
General Feedback: Remove the lecture section from the blog.
Specific Feedback: I have 3 styles, and Mr.Vinod like the #2 and #3. He said that it looks interesting and fun, and music looking. But, the way I constructed the shape is so bad. He told me to do the #2 style, but need to work for the construction (the stroke), the 's' can be better, increase the line stroke, rework and be a little more careful with the construction. The letters that ok is 'K', 'M','U'.
1. You thin lines are too thin
2. The curves on the K F need to be smoothed
3. The thin line here is better but you need to have smoother lines and
created with more control
Week 14
Specific Feedback: Okay, but try to make numbers.
REFLECTION
EXPERIENCE
Week 11: For this final project, I had no idea what to do, because of the overwhelming situation. But I try my best to do so and find an idea that suits me. I was so stressed because my lecturer don't like my idea and I thought it's okay to have whatever idea it is. But in the end, they choose one of 3.
Week 12: I really frustrated and I know all of my friends too, when I showed my work, my lecturer said that I'm still on my very first stage of work, but I already work hard on it. So these experiences are really tiring because we need to catch up times and deadline. So I need to work fast and hard.
Week 13: I'm grateful that finally one of my idea being accepted and being said interesting. And from that I really need to work fast because next week is the last week and I need rest and holiday.
Week 14: I'm very happy that we almost there, because I'm really tired of this semester and need a rest.
OBSERVATION
Week 11: I still observed that some of my friends still gone, and don't attend the class.
Week 12: I'm not seeing much work in this few weeks, because i assumed that few of my classmates are tired and don't do their work. But I think this is not an excuse because everyone's tired. But from the work that I saw, they're doing great and their work has been accepted.
Week 13: Most of the class doing great, and some of them even done their finalize typeface, and that is a cool thing.
Week 14: I see all of my friends doing a great job even thought some still missing from class.
FINDINGS
Week 11: I found that if we want to explore we need more time to discover what we want to do and create, we can't just pick a random idea and don't know what to do with it.
Week 12: I learn that we can't underestimate the process of making the type-face, cause it needs a lot of effort and consistency. And it's a long process to reach a good quality of a good typeface.
Week 13: Same still, we need to put our effort to make this typeface. And just enjoy the process.
Week 14: I learn that we'll forget all the trials and problem that we faced during the process, and we'll be proud and happy when we see the result. Just keep moving forward and do the best!

Fig 4.1: Typography Essentials |
I read about considering background contrast. The difference between foreground and background are totally the key factor of legibility. The highest degree of contrast is black and white, studies shows that while black type of a white background is highly legible, the same quantity when white type on a black background, but I like white type on black more. As type colour and background colour come closer together in hue, saturation, and density legibility is reduced. At a certain point where there is not enough contrast and this point is a moving target, because it depends on many other factors, including letter weight, set width, stroke width, slop and point size.
